Spill Control Plan

An internal hazardous spill exposure is any event in which an uncontrolled release of a hazardous substance occurs that poses a risk to health, safety, and property. Management of accidental releases (spills) of hazardous substances within the hospital is regulated by OSHA and are classified as either being incidental or requiring emergency response.

The Internal Hazardous Spill Exposure Critical Event Annex (CEA) is a planning document that augments the hospital’s existing Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) and incorporates the fundamental principles of all-hazards emergency management. The annex provides for the proper identification, notification, and management of hazardous substance releases; staff safety, roles and responsibilities; and proper disposal methods consistent with regulatory requirements.
