Hospital Evacuation
What happens when a hospital becomes victim to a natural disaster or man-made event and can no longer provide care to its patients?

What happens when instead of supporting first responders during an emergency, the hospital itself needs to be evacuated?
Hospital Evacuation is the process of moving patients, staff and visitors from their at-risk location within a medical facility or campus to a safe holding area or alternate location. It requires the use of an incident management system to coordinate resources, track patients and equipment, and ensure accountability.
DQE helps hospitals develop Evacuation planning, training and excerise programs that incorporate the fundamental principles of all-hazards emergency management. Evacuation programs become operational through a combination of Hospital Onsite Evacuation Training, Hospital Online Evacuation Training, and Hospital Evacuation Planning, and Hospital Expercise Development services. With proper management, chaos is minimized, normal operations resume sooner, the cost of the event is monitored, safety is maximized, and there is more efficient use of personnel.
DQE Evacuation Training Programs are aligned with NIMS activities for hospitals and healthcare systems, HICS, HSEEP, ASPR, NFPA 99, and The Joint Commission.
